Dozens demonstrate against Bolsonaro in Brazil

Dozens of crosses representing COVID-19 victims were placed Tuesday outside the Brazilian Congress in the capital Brasilia, where demonstrators protested against President Jair Bolsonaro.

Dozens of crosses representing COVID-19 victims were placed Tuesday outside the Brazilian Congress in the capital Brasilia, where demonstrators protested against President Jair Bolsonaro.

Members of trade unions, Indigenous people, LGBT activists and political opponents of Bolsonaro delivered a petition calling for his impeachment.

Bolsonaro has been widely criticised for downplaying the impact of the pandemic.

Indigenous leader Kretan Kaingang said they attended the demonstration to honour the "warriors" who died as a result of COVID-19.

The coronavirus death toll in Brazil is almost 73,000, the second-highest in the world.
