Dubai mall flooded after heavy rains, roads clogged, alert issued

Storm-like weather conditions have prevailed in Dubai on November 10 destructing the Dubai Mall along with delay and cancellation of several flights on Nov 10

Heavy rains lashed parts of Dubai on November 10 causing leakage in Dubai Mall and flooding some shops. Several flights were delayed while some were cancelled due to the unsettled weather. The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCM) said that the weather is expected to remain unstable until November 12. As streets were flooded, residents faced difficulty in commuting. The rains are accompanied by winds at the speed of 25-35 km/hr and reached 50 km/hr at some points as the cloud activities increased.

Alert issued by NCM

A yellow and red alert was issued by the NCM until Monday evening. The sea is expected to remain moderate while being rough at some points at the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea. The weather is expected to be more stable only as of the weekend approaches. The valleys in the mountainous, as well as the eastern regions, were flooded and NCM also asked the residents to stay away from such areas. Mainly the parts of Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dubai witnessed a heavy downpour with the temperatures dropping significantly throughout the UAE.

Caution for drivers, flights affected

The Dubai Police cautioned the road users amidst weather fluctuations and asked the drivers to adhere to specific road speed and only use them in cases of emergency. Dubai Airport authorities have also declared that there will be disruption in flight arrivals as well as the departures and the people were advised to constantly keep a check on the changes.
