Egypt Ministry of Antiquities reportedly said on March 19 that The Sphinx had a "distinctive astronomical" moment with the sun during the spring equinox.

Egypt Ministry of Antiquities reportedly said on March 19 that Sphinx h a "distinctive astromical" moment with sun during spring equix when, in a shining flourish, sunset on shoulder of half-man, half-lion statue. Ministry reportedly said that rare phemen happens twice a year during spring in March and fall equix in September. It is believed that earth's axis does t point toward or away from sun, during equix which means that rrn and Sourn hemispheres receive equal amounts of sunlight. In dition, it means day and night are equal in length.

iconic half-man, half-lion is carved out of limestone bedrock. Sphinx is also strategically placed for summer solstice in June, when sun sets between pyramids of pharaohs Khufu and Khafre, as per reports.
