El Chapo's wife Emma Coronel Aispuro to debut on VH1 reality show 'Cartel Crew'

Emma Coronel Aispuro, a former teenage beauty queen and wife of Mexican drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, will debut on VH1’s reality TV show 'Cartel Crew'.

Emma Coronel Aispuro, a former teenage beauty queen and wife of Mexican drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, will debut on VH1’s reality TV show Cartel Crew. The entertainment network, in a press release, said that the 30-year-old will open up  "about her life after El Chapo and her upcoming business venture."

Aispuro meets Griselda Blanco's son

Cartel Crew chronicles the lives of people who have had connections to cartels in Miami, Florida and their attempt to navigate through life and deal with the effects of a cartel on their lives. The network released a sneak-peek video where Aispuro can be seen meeting Michael Blanco, the youngest son of Griselda Blanco, on her yacht.  Griselda Blanco was a Columbian drug lord popularly known as 'Cocaine Godmother', who was killed in 2012.

Glimpse into personal lives

Emma Coronel Aispuro is set to make several appearances on the show where she is expected to open up about her life after El Chapo, who is serving a life sentence at the United States Penitentiary, Administrative Maximum Facility in Florence. Aispuro’s first appearance will be aired on November 19. According to VH1, the show provides a platform to the sons and daughters of cartel members to give a glimpse into their personal lives as they navigate adulthood and the effects of their family legacies.

“This docuseries follows their journeys as they set out to live legit lives and make names for themselves outside of the drug world,” said the network.

From Mexico to America

Joaquín Guzmán aka El Chapo, born in Sinaloa, Mexico, was first captured in 1993 and extradited to Mexico. He was sentenced with 20 years of jail term, but he managed to escape the maximum-security prison in 2001 by bribing prison guards. He was again captured in 2014, but he escaped through a tunnel before formal sentencing. Later he was arrested after a shoot out in 2016 and was extradited to the US where he was found guilty of numerous charges related to Sinaloa Cartel.
