EU is 'open but still unconvinced' with Johnson's Brexit deal
The European Council President Donald Tusk has told the PM of UK Boris Johnson, that they are open for discussions but still are not convinced with the deal

On October 4, European Council President, Donald Tusk has told Prime Minister of United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, that y remain open for discussions but still are t convinced with proposed deal. PM Johnson was ticed using a slightly more conciliatory tone in Parliament while presenting his new offers of regulation of tre between Ireland and rrn Ireland after Brexit represented a significant compromise. However, according to European leers, measures proposed by PM Johnson are falling short of compromise required to strike a deal.
'Abolish Backstop'
Boris Johnson has been against current 'Backstop' in Brexit deal and has offered a replacement of it with a mixture of checks at ports on Irish sea and away from Ireland border. To propose this aspect of deal, on October 3, PM Johnson reportedly told members of parliament that he h me an honest attempt to bridge gap with his tone. Previously, UK leer has been kwn to use harsh words and being still amant to have Brexit on October 31. Even though UK PM was t happy about deal he was offering, he believes that it is better than being a prisoner in current delock. Boris Johnson called fresh Brexit deal as fair and reasonable, but backstop must go.

'Short in number of aspects'
Prime Minister of Ireland, Leo Varkar believes that new Brexit plans fall short in a number of aspects. custom checks on island have been raising concerns for Irish government along with European Parliament's Brexit Steering Group who has “grave concerns” about Brexit proposal. PM Johnson is w focussing on European Commission summit scheduled on October 17 for ar round of diplomatic negotiations in order to get Brexit done.

Backstop
It is an insurance policy which is aimed at avoiding a hard border between rrn Ireland and Republic. This deal has alrey been rejected by former UK PM, resa May, three times. PM Johnson has proposed that he would keep rrn Ireland tied to rules of single market for tre in goods however, leaving customs union with rest of UK. Donald Tusk has also assured that he is t convinced by deal, and that “EU stands by Ireland”. Britain is set to leave European Union on October 31 until extension is being negotiated and granted.
