'Food Production influences Climate', Here's how Denmark plans to combat it and raise awareness
Extending its efforts towards bettering environment and climate change, Denmark is reportedly planning to compel supermarkets and food manufacturing companies to label their products. Denmark aims to develop an accurate label which includes every piece of information telling about the climate impact.

Extending its efforts towards bettering environment and climate change, Denmark is reportedly planning to compel supermarkets and food manufacturing companies to label their products. The move is intended to bring awareness regarding the issue and inform the customers about the impact of these products on the climate and the environment.
The government of Denmark is backed by the Danish Agriculture and Food Council. The council is supportive of the intended steps proposed by the Danish Government - which tries to implement the best practices, in turn helping to alleviate the harmful effects of farming and climate change.
"Everyone knows that food production influences the climate, but if the rest of the world produced food the way we do in Denmark, the world would be a better place," Morten Høyer, director of the council, said.
Denmark has collaborated with the European Union and is working towards the betterment of environment for over 10 years. It has been working to develop the process of labelling on all the food products to inform about the change in climate across the world. Høyer, the director of the Danish council, knows that it is not an easy task to implement the steps but that won't affect them from trying constantly on their part to make the idea successful.
"It may be necessary to compare the climate effect of a product with how nutritious it is. A soda might only have a small impact on the climate, but it will not sustain you. Our goal is to develop an accurate label. We must include every piece of information so products like plant-based substitutes for ground meat has information on the climate impact of the soy in the product which is produced in South America. Things like these are difficult to calculate, so we have a worthy challenge ahead of us before we can say with certainty that we have the right solution for a climate label," Høyer explained.
Recently, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a report which stated that limiting global warming to 1.5°C would need fast and far-reaching attempts to combat unprecedented changes in the world. This would require constant efforts and a lot of perseverance on a mass scale. The whole world needs to come together so to make a difference.
Controlling global warming and limiting it to 1.5°C as compared to 2°C is a simultaneous process along with working towards sustainable goals. If everyone comes together, it would clearly be advantageous to the ecosystem and the world in general.
