Four people including woman publicly flogged by Taliban in Afghanistan's Kabul

Four people including a woman were publicly flogged by the draconian Taliban regime in Afghanistan's Kargha area Wednesday. They were convicted of immorality.

Four people including a woman were publicly flogged by draconian Taliban regime in Afghanistan. According to Pakistan’s news outlet Khamaa Press, flogged individuals were accused of committing “immorality” in Paghman district of Kabul. As per reports,  people were arrested from Kargha area of Kabul. After convicts were flogged, Talibani Supreme Court sentenced convicts to three months of imprisonment. 

After Supreme Court’s decisions, Taliban officials publicly lashed criminals in Paghman district court, Khamaa Press reported. country’s government officials were also present when heius incident took place. After Taliban’s takeover in August 2021, several reports of public flogging emerged from Afghanistan. In December last year, over 30 people were publicly flogged by Taliban in Kapisa and Jowzjan provinces of Afghanistan. situation is even more deplorable when it comes to situation of women in country.

Each convict received 20 leashes

According to Khamaa Press, each convict involved in Wednesday incident received 20 lashes along with one-month imprisonment. After assuming power, regime resumed practice of physical punishment, a method that abandoned over past 20 years in Afghanistan. In midst of all chaos, Human Rights vocacy groups have repeatedly stated that convicts usually do t have access to a “legal and standardised judicial system” in conflict-stricken country. Hence, lack of a fair judgement process emerged as one of major challenges county is facing in recent times.

From gyms to beauty saloons, and schools to work in NGOs,  Taliban ministration has restricted women having rights in different walks of life. critical situation in country has long remained neglected since commencement of raging Russia-Ukriane war along with or mainstream global issues. Hence, plight of people of  Afghanistan has remained somewhat neglected in hustle and bustle of modern world.
