France & Canada impose UK travel bans over new COVID-19 variant fears
France & Canada are the latest to join the list of European countries to impose travel ban over new COVID strain which spreads more quickly

After UK reported a new COVID-19 strain, France has w joined several or countries which have suspended traffic coming from United Kingdom. This new Coronavirus strain is likely to spre more easily and more quickly and is also harder to detect. Taking to Twitter, French Prime Minister Jean Castex said, "Considering new health risks and pending ir assessment, all arrivals from United Kingdom to France are suspended from midnight for 48 hours for all transport means."
According to Jean Castex, France will use 2-day pause to clarify health situation in UK and coordinate a common response strategy with EU member states. This comes after UK Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, on Sunday said that new COVID-19 strain is "out of control".

Cana implements new border restrictions
Taking to Twitter, Cana Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday said that he convened a meeting with Incident Response Group. "We focussed on new variant of COVID-19 identified in UK, and we have decided to implement new border restrictions to keep you and people right across country safe," Trudeau ded.

According to new border restrictions, starting Monday midnight, all flights from UK will be prohibited from entering Cana for next 72 hours. Cana Prime Minister also informed that passengers who arrived to country on Monday are subject to secondary screening and enhanced measures. "More on actions we are taking to protect you, " he ded.

What is Coronavirus strain detected in UK?
According to World Health Organization, variation found in UK, kwn as “VUI – 202012/01” was first identified re in mid-September. Ever since n, its mutations have occurred on genetic material that controls spikes protein, which allows COVID-19 and or similar viruses to penetrate host cells, causing infection.

According to U.K.’s chief scientific viser Patrick Vallance, re are 23 changes in virus’s genetic material, an unusually large number that appears to be helping it spre more quickly. British officials have w estimated that “VUI – 202012/01” is as much as 70 per cent more transmissible, a number that is based on modelling but t yet confirmed in lab experiments. Though re is evidence to-date that strain causes a more intense illness or les to a higher fatality rate, er transmission does mean more cases, which can le to a higher hospitalization rate.
