Earlier this week, Verdi, Germany's largest tre union, said that y will go on a one-day strike on January 15 in a dispute over pay. y are planning to st an 18-hour walkout (between 2 am to 8 pm (local time)) at Frankfurt airport, country's largest airport, DW reported.

In a statement, Lufthansa said on January 13, "Due to a strike by security staff at airport, Lufthansa Group flights to and from Frankfurt will be considerably impaired next Tuesday, January 15. Please inform yourself about status of your flight."

"A special feature, however, applies to passengers who want to start ir flight in Frankfurt on Tuesday. According to airport operator, security checks outside transit area are t occupied. If you start your journey in Frankfurt, you will t be able to reach your flight during entire strike period. Lufthansa, refore, asks you t to go to airport and inste, if you have t yet done so, to use rebooking options," airlines ded.

Lufthansa furr said that strike will t only affect its flights to and from Frankfurt but also at airports in Haver, Bremen, Leipzig/Halle, Dresden and Hamburg on January 15. It has urged passengers to kw about status of ir flight before departure.

Similar smaller-scale strikes were std in Berlin, Cologne-Bonn, Düsseldorf, and Stuttgart airports earlier this week.

Verdi is demanding an increase in hourly pay for all airport security workers to around 20 euros. Currently, y earn between 11.30 euros and 17.16 euros.
