French Nobel laureate claims coronavirus was made in Wuhan lab
A Nobel prize-winning scientist has claimed that the novel coronavirus originated from a Wuhan laboratory in an attempt to manufacture a vaccine against HIV.

French bel prize-winning scientist Luc Montagnier has claimed that vel coronavirus originated from a Wuhan laboratory while attempting to manufacture a vaccine against HIV (Human Immudeficiency Virus). During an interview with a French news channel, bel laureate who co-discovered HIV said that presence of HIV elements in geme of SARS-CoV-2 raises suspicion against a possible man-me virus.
Prof Montagnier said that Wuhan city laboratory has expertise in this area since y have been working on coronaviruses since early 2000s. However, claim received criticism from scientists and his colleagues and who asked people t to believe him.

"Just in case you don’t kw. Dr Montagnier has been rolling downhill incredibly fast in last few years. From baselessly defending homeopathy to becoming an antivaxxer. Whatever he says, just don’t believe him," tweeted Juan Carlos Gabaldon.
Controversy of virus origin

After reports of lab-originated virus gained momentum, director of Wuhan Institute of Virology Yuan Zhiming denied claims calling it “impossible”. In an interview with Chinese state media, Yuan said that ne of his staff h been infected, and "whole institute is carrying out research in different areas related to coronavirus”.

United States has repeatedly accused China of hiding facts regarding vel coronavirus and hinting towards a possible origin from Wuhan laboratory. During a White House press briefing on coronavirus, State Secretary Mike Pompeo h said that re is still time for clarity and transparency over COVID-19 as researchers are still working on problem and y need accurate data to perform ir analysis related to rapeutics and vaccine.
