French President Emmanuel Macron attacked Iran saying that it took ‘grave’ decisions after Tehran decided to take a step back from the problematic 2015 nuclear deal with the major powers of the world. 

Macron wants Iran to return to nuclear pact

Emmanuel Macron, made a statement during his trip to Beijing, saying "I will have discussions in the coming days, including the Iranians, and we must collectively draw the consequences.” Macron further reflected that this will be for the first time that Iran will properly take a step back from the nuclear deal. He termed it a ‘profound change’ from Tehran’s previous position on the matter. The French President also said that in the coming week, France will focus all its efforts in pressurizing Iran to follow the nuclear pact which certainly is accompanied by “an easing of some sanctions."

Macron confirmed that the topic will be discussed with the US President, however, the situation can return back to normal only when both the nations agree to engage in a dialogue and work on a trust agenda.

Iran to resume uranium enrichment

On the other hand, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani asserted that it would start again its uranium enrichment in its nuclear plant located in the south of Tehran. Also one of the supreme leaders of Iran had tweeted that the French President acts as a mediator, but a one-time conversation with the United States cannot resolve the long-standing conflict.

The United States of America accused Iran of "Nuclear extortion"

The United States of America accused Iran of "Nuclear extortion" on November 5 and promised to keep up the pressure after the Islamic Republic stated that it would restart its process of uranium enrichment at their major Fordow Plant. A representative of the US stated that Iran had no solid reason to further expand its uranium enrichment at the Fordow plant or anywhere else, as such an attempt will only lead to the further political and economic isolation of the country. The representative further added that the US will exert maximum pressure on Iran till the time it does not stop its unacceptable behaviour and that included the proliferation-sensitive work.
