From good to bad: After voicing for Simba 25 years ago, Arvind Swami cast as Scar in Tamil version of 'The Lion King'
In 1994 when the animated film The Lion King hit cinemas for the first time, famous Kollywood actor Arvind Swami was associated with the movie, he played the role of a voice actor for the Tamil dubbed version. Back in 1994, Swami played the role of the junior king, Simba.

Now 25 years later, Disney India has brought Arvind back behind the mic to voice-star in the Tamil version of the film. This time interestingly Swami will play the antagonist’s voice; Simba’s uncle Scar.

The Kollywood sensation took to his Twitter to announce and confirm the news.

The post said, “Last time it was Simba, this time we chose Scar... had a lot of fun doing it. Hope you guys like it”
In a statement, he said that voicing for Simba 20 years ago was a great learning experience, however, he prefers this character more since it is way more interesting and is also multidimensional too.

Other than Swami, Tamil star Siddharth Suryanarayan is going to be voicing for Simba. The actor took to his Twitter as he expressed his gratitude and joy for getting the opportunity to do the voiceover for the character.

Directed by Jon Favreau of 'The Jungle Book' fame, 'The Lion King' is scheduled to be released on July 19 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Disney India had cast superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan to voice King Mufasa and Simba respectively in the film’s Hindi version.
