In a press conference held in Brazil, Amitabh Kant, India’s G20 Sherpa, highlighted key outcomes of 11th G20 Summit attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kant described summit as a "fruitful engagement" and emphasized significance of discussions and commitments me by global leers.

One of standout achievements of summit was unified stance taken by G20 leers against global hunger. “ declaration has been passed, which demonstrates unity against hunger,” Kant said. Leers were invited to participate in initiatives dressing hunger and sustainable development.

Emphasis on climate and energy 

summit also placed a “huge emphasis on climate and energy,” according to Kant. Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s ambitious commitment to renewable energy and highlighted country’s efforts to transition towards sustainable energy solutions.

“ PM spoke on hunger and sustainable development. He emphasized India’s efforts for energy and reiterated our commitment to renewable energy,” Kant said.

What else was discussed? 

Tritional medicine was anor focal point of discussions. Leers acknowledged its potential role in dressing global health challenges. Modi also stressed importance of speeding up implementation of G20 initiatives to achieve impactful results.

ongoing conflict in Middle East was also discussed, underlining summit’s comprehensive approach to global challenges.

“At G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro today, I spoke on a topic which is very important for future of planet- Sustainable Development and Energy Transition. I reiterated India’s stefast commitment to Sustainable Development Agenda. Over past dece, India has undertaken numerous initiatives in sectors like housing, water resources, energy and sanitation which have contributed to a more sustainable future,” PM Modi stated on X.

“We in India, guided by our cultural values, have been first to fulfil Paris Agreement commitments ahe of schedule. Building on this, we are accelerating towards more ambitious goals in sectors like renewable energy. Our effort of world’s largest solar rooftop programme is an example of same,” he stated. 

“India is sharing its successful initiatives with Global South, focussing on affordable climate finance and technology access. From launching Global Biofuels Alliance and promoting ‘One Sun One World One Grid’ to planting a billion trees under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, we continue to work actively towards sustainable progress,” he ded.
