Geneva fountain turns blue to honour UN's birthday

Geneva lit up its landmarks in United Nations colours on Saturday night, as it joined the celebration for the 75th anniversary of the world body. The famous Jet d'eau on Lake Geneva and the UN's Palais des Nations were part of the "Turn Europe in UN Blue" celebration that took place in cities across Europe.

Across Europe, from the Torre de Belém in Lisbon, the Grand Place in Brussels and the Peace Palace in The Hague, buildings, fountains and plazas switched their lights to the shade of blue used by the UN.Over the past 75 years, the United Nations has helped millions of peopleto combat poverty, secure more access to education and health, and enjoy fundamental rights.
