Cruise ship BRAEMAR made a historic transit through the Corinth canal in Greece becoming the longest ship that ever transited through the narrow canal.

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines shared breath-taking video on YouTube which has been viewed more than 500k times. “ Take a look at majestic Braemar cruising through Corinth Canal today -  9th October 2019,” wrote Norwegian-owned cruise shipping line.

Clare Ward, Director of Product and Customer Service for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, in a statement, said, “This is such an exciting sailing and tremendous milestone in Fred. Olsen’s 171-year history, and we are thrilled to have been able to share it with our guests.” Ward said that guests onboard Braemar were able to get so close to edges of Corinth Canal that y could almost touch sides. “we know that this will be a holiday that y will never forget,” he said. Ward also informed that a second Corinth Canal cruise is scheduled in Spring 2021 and that y “can’t wait to do it all over again!”

Breath-taking photographs

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines also shared amazing photographs, on its official Twitter account, of cruise squeezing canal.

A user, who was present on cruise, shared his experience on Twitter. “Wonderful views and exhilarating. Could touch trees as we passed by. Congratulations to Captain Jozo Glavic and his crew,” he wrote.

transit Braemar, which set sail from Southampton, UK on September 27, 2019, broke existing record to become largest ship ever to traverse “famous feat of engineering”. According to Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, Braemar, which crossed canal, is 24,344-gross-tonnes, 195.82-metre-long and 22.52-metre-wide and it cruised through narrowest point, measuring 24 metres, of canal. Corinth Canal cuts through narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates Greek mainland from Peloponnese.
