Greece Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on vember 22 reportedly said that country is hiring approximately 400 border guards to shut door for migrants who are t entitled to stay. He told parliament that guards will be deployed at Greece's land border with Turkey and almost 800 guards for its islands. country is also expected to upgre its sea patrolling operations. anuncement comes as migrant and refugee arrivals from neighbouring Turkey has risen again and more than 37,000 people are crammed into facilities on islands which operate far beyond capacity.
On Wednesday country also anunced plans to overhaul its migration manment system. y reportedly will be replacing overcrowded refugee camps on islands with smaller detention facilities and moving approximately 20,000 asylum seekers to mainland. Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) furr raised concerns over new centres as y believe that detention centres may provide better living condition but it could eventually turn into prisons for people who seek safety. According to international media reports, people detained will t have freedom to exit facilities and n-governmental organisations will have access inside.

Human rights group criticize government
plan changes are considered to be most significant since a landmark deal in 2016 between Turkey and European Union to limit migration to Europe. conservative government has vowed to step up deportations of migrants to separate refugees from migrants and speed up processing of asylum applications. Human Rights group and Amnesty International has, however, criticized government plans as y feel that migrants fleeing away war zones may lose access to proper asylum screening.
