Popular environmentalist and climate action activist Greta Thunberg has declined to accept rdic Council’s environmental award 2019 and prize money of 500,000 Swedish kror. Taking to Instagram, Thunberg cited that climate movement doesn't need awards and recognitions ding that much was required to be done in order to curb deteriorating climate. Thunberg in her Instagram post ded that politicians and people in power needed to pay attention to worsening climate conditions.

Bringing to world's tice, Thunberg said that rwegian government has recently accorded a number of permits in hunt for oil and gas which would d to emissions. She ded that newly opened Oil and Gas field: Johan Sverdrup of rway is expected to generate global CO2 emissions of about 1.3 tonnes.

Thunberg hits out at rdic countries
Slamming politics that goes in rdic countries, Thunberg said that rdic countries carried a great reputation around world for ir stance on climate and environmental issues, but when it came to actual emissions and ecological footprints per capita, countries were less responsible for degring climate than rest of world, ding that re were still signs of a substantial change required to counter climate change.

However, Thunberg in an interview h stressed fact that while awards could be in recognition for movements, she and her supporters weren't doing this to get awards and prizes. In her stinging United Nations General Assembly speech, Thunberg h slammed world leers for ir “betrayal” of young people through ir inertia over climate crisis at a United Nations summit that failed to deliver ambitious new commitments to dress dangerous global heating.
