Guatemala's Vice President Guillermo Castillo Reyes paid hom to Mahatma Gandhi on his 151st birth anniversary in an event at National Palace of Culture on Friday, October 2. According to reports, Indian Ambassor BS Mubarak also attended event and presented a plaque as well as Mahatma Gandhi's autobiography to Guatemalan leer.

UN Chief remembers Gandhi's mess
Earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke at an event titled ‘Gandhi@150: A n-violent approach to peace and development’. During his dress, Guterres re-emphasised importance of n-violence and peaceful protest and called for a global ceasefire. Gandhi Jayanti is also marked as International Day of n-Violence.

During event, Guterres also express a sense of hope despite constant ‘mistrust’ in international community and said “w is time” to intensify efforts. Referring to COVID-19 pandemic as a “common enemy”, UN Sec-Gen called for a global ceasefire and urged leers to make it a reality by end of 2020.
