Halloween celebrations in Hong Kong witnessed a 'surreal' mix of demonstrators and costumed partygoers made it difficult for police to contain the crowd.

Halloween celebrations took a turn in pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong where a 'surreal' mix of demonstrators and costumed partygoers me it difficult for police officials to man crowd. On October 31, amidst violent protests and emergency restrictions in city, residents, tourists, and expatriates drank cocktails, chugged beers and danced in popular party districts in central areas of city. However, on or hand, at a short distance, re were protesters who flooded streets while chanting “Gangster” against Hong Kong police.

China vows to prevent foreign powers

A day after Halloween, China has vowed to prevent foreign powers from interfering in affairs of Hong Kong unrest and will carry out acts of “separatism, subversion, infiltration, and sabot”. Beijing is planning on establishing a strong legal system and enforcement mechanism in order to safeguard national security in Hong Kong. It has been more than five months since violent protests have roiled city due to anti-government rallies. Furrmore, a Chinese official said that y will t allow any behavior which poses challenges to 'one country, two systems' policy which binds China and Hong Kong.

Unrest continues unabated

Even after official withdrawal of extrition bill and efforts of Hong Kong police officials,  protests are continuing unabated. Especially since latest unrest that has disrupted life in semi-automous Chinese territory in June. black-cl masked protesters reportedly barriced streets at multiple locations in Kowloon where subway operator h restricted passenger access. Reportedly, a firebomb was also tossed at one of subway stations. In dendum to growing violence, protesters tore off stones from sidewalk and scattered m on ro, commandeered safety barriers and even unscrewed metal railings to form makeshift roblocks.
