Washington: Former US President Donald Trump has called on Israel to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities in response to recent missile attacks from the Islamic republic. He made this statement while speaking at a campaign event in North Carolina on Friday.

Criticism of Biden’s Stance on Iran

Trump's remarks came after President Joe Biden was asked earlier in the week whether he would support Israeli strikes on Iran's nuclear sites. Biden responded by saying, “The answer is no,” implying that he does not endorse such actions.

Trump sharply criticised Biden's response, saying, “They asked him, what do you think about Iran, would you hit Iran? And he goes, 'As long as they don't hit the nuclear stuff.' That's the thing you want to hit, right?" Trump continued, "Isn't that what you're supposed to hit? I mean, it's the biggest risk we have, nuclear weapons."

Trump’s Call for Strikes on Iran’s Nuclear Sites

During the town hall event in Fayetteville, Trump said the focus should be on neutralising nuclear threats. He said, “When they asked him that question, the answer should have been, hit the nuclear first, and worry about the rest later.”

According to Trump, Biden’s reluctance to target Iran’s nuclear program is a mistake. He added, “If they're going to do it, they're going to do it. But we'll find out whatever their plans are."

Biden’s Position on Israeli Response

Biden, on the other hand, emphasised a different approach during a Suprise press briefing on Friday, said that Iran should look or other alternatives to handle Iran. Biden suggested that Israel should strikes Iram oil facilities and try to stop the escalation of war in the middle east. Following the firing of nearly 200 missiles by Iran towards Israel, he reiterated that Israel has the right to defend itself but stressed that their response should be proportional. “We’ll be discussing with the Israelis what they’re going to do,” Biden said, adding that G7 members are in agreement about Israel’s right to respond, as long as it is proportionate. Trump Holds Biden and Harris Responsible for Middle East Tensions

In recent days, Trump has spoken little about the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. However, he issued a strong statement this week, holding President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris responsible for the escalating tensions in the region. Trump is currently engaged in a tough presidential election battle against Harris, the Democratic nominee.

The situation in the Middle East continues to evolve, with both sides closely watching how the US administration and its political figures react to the unfolding events.
