Hong Kong protesters: 'We will not surrender', rally for UK support

Hundreds of pro-democracy protesters have gathered in Hong Kong on Saturday to call on the United Kingdom to come to the aid of the former British colony.

Hundreds of pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong have called on United Kingdom to come to aid of former British colony on Saturday. Hongkongers on Saturday gared outside British consulate in Hong Kong and are chanting 'We will t surrender.' According to reports, this is marked as 15th consecutive weekend of mass protests in Hong Kong. According to reports, protestors have been chanting 'Stand for Freedom, Stand with Hong Kong' to call for attention to hear ir demands for democracy. Hong Kong is currently a semi-automous territory which was handed over to Chinese in 1997. movement is biggest challenge to China's rule.

Protestors' demands

According to reports, protesters are asking UK to apply pressure on Beijing to uphold 'one country, two systems' ideology. critics of Hong Kong believe that y are deprived of ir own freedom. Some demonstrators are also looking for a way to leave country and work in UK for which y are calling on British colony to extend rights of British National Overseas (B). According to rules currently, Hongkongers have right to visit UK for only six months. Last week, thousands of protestors h marched to US consulate to call on US lawmakers to sanction Hong Kong officials. Democracy activist Joshua Wong urged on September 15 that Hongkongers should t give up asking for ir rights.

China lashes out at UK 

Chinese authorities lashed out at British colony for signalling ir support to Hong Kong. In June this year, China h stated that relationship with UK has been damd because of Britain's attempt in interfering in protests. Earlier, Beijing and pro-Beijing figures in Hong Kong have previously accused foreign powers like US and UK for secretly funding and organising Hong Kong rallies.
