“I Know You, You Are Famous,” Indonesian President Praises S. Jaishankar at G20 Summit | WATCH

During G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a brief yet memorable interaction stole spotlight. As External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, introduced himself to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, latter warmly replied, “I know you, you are very famous.” candid remark highlighted Jaishankar’s growing reputation as a sharp, assertive, and influential global diplomat.  

Jaishankar has become a prominent figure on world stage, mired for his ability to give befitting replies with remarkable clarity and confidence. His assertive statements and diplomatic strategies often go viral, making him one of most recognised Indian politicians globally. 

Jaishankar’s Global Recognition  

Jaishankar’s fame is not limited to India. His sharp diplomacy and strategic approach have earned him praise from politicians and diplomats worldwide. During his visit to United States in September, American diplomat Richard Verma called him “Modern Architect of India-US Relations,” highlighting his  role in strengning ties between two nations.  

At G20 Summit, Jaishankar once again demonstrated his influence, accompanying Prime Minister Narendra Modi to several high-profile meetings, including bilateral discussion with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.  

Strengning India-Indonesia Relations  

Prime Minister Modi met with President Subianto on sidelines of G20 Summit. This marked first meeting between two leers following Subianto’s recent election as Indonesia’s President. Modi congratulated Subianto on assuming office and expressed India’s commitment to deepening ties with Indonesia under framework of ir Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.  

two leers discussed cooperation in multiple areas, including tre, investment, defense, security, tourism, connectivity, and healthcare. y emphasized importance of people-to-people ties and noted that both countries are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations. y agreed to commemorate milestone with meaningful celebrations.  

Focus on Global South  

In dition to bilateral issues, Modi and Subianto exchanged views on pressing global and regional matters. y reiterated ir commitment to prioritizing concerns of Global South within G20 framework. Both leers also reviewed ongoing collaborations in multilateral and regional platforms, including ASEAN.
