'I Will Give You a Child and Guard Your Cats' Elon Musk After Taylor Swift Backs Kamala Harris
In his post, Musk referred to Swift calling herself a "Childless Cat Lady," a term used by Trump's vice-presidential pick, JD Vance, to mock women without child
Washington: Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk has grabbed headlines again after sharing a post referencing Taylor Swift. The global pop star endorsed Democratic nominee Kamala Harris for the U.S. presidency, just moments after the ABC News Presidential Debate concluded.
In his post, Musk referred to Swift's “childless cat lady" remark alluding to a comment made by Trump's vice-presidential pick, J.D. Vance, who mocked women without children.
"Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life," he wrote.
How Did the Internet React?
The post quickly garnered over 2.9 million views and sparked a wide range of reactions.
While some criticized Musk for being "creepy," others found the post "fun."
One X user wrote, "Am I reading this right, that you are offering to have a child with Taylor Swift?"
Another commented, "You are creepy and weird."
Others remarked, "Never deleting this app!" and "Her endorsement aligns with demographic trends. Unmarried women are a key voting demographic for the Democratic Party."
A final comment read, "Taylor wants precisely zero to do with you."
Taylor Swift's Post
In her post, Swift explicitly stated she would vote for Kamala Harris in the upcoming U.S. Presidential election.
Her Instagram post read: "Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to research the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country."
She shared: "I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election."
She emphasized Harris's commitment to fighting for the rights and causes she believes in, including LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body.
"I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades."
"I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice," the Grammy-winning artist added. “Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first-time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story” she added.
She signed the post “childless cat lady,” a clear reference to controversial remarks made by Trump's running mate, Sen. JD Vance.
