IDF Eliminates Hamas Political Bureau Chief Kassab, One of Last High-Ranking Members
According to IDF, Kassab was one of the last senior leaders of Hamas’ political bureau still active in Gaza.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed on Saturday that they have eliminated Izz al-Din Kassab, a high-ranking official within Hamas' political bureau. Kassab, known as the Head of National Relations, was reportedly responsible for overseeing Hamas' connections with other terrorist organisations in Gaza and coordinating its strategic and military alliances.
The IDF also mentioned about the Kassab’s influential role within the organisation, stating that he was one of the last senior leaders of Hamas’ political bureau still active in Gaza. A statement released by the IDF highlighted Kassab’s contributions to Hamas' operations and his coordination with various militant groups in the region.

Sharing the news on X, the IDF posted, “ELIMINATED: Izz al-Din Kassab, Head of National Relations in Hamas' Political Bureau. Kassab was a member of Hamas' political bureau and was responsible for national relations within the organization, overseeing the coordination and connection between Hamas and other terrorist organizations in Gaza.”
In the post, the IDF also indicated that Kassab played a direct role in planning and executing terrorist attacks against Israel. “Additionally, Kassab was responsible for the organization’s strategic and military relations with other factions in Gaza. He held the authority to direct the execution of terrorist attacks against the State of Israel,” the IDF’s post added.

This announcement follows a period of heightened tension between Israel and Hezbollah, with escalating violence and repeated cross-border attacks. The IDF reported that Hezbollah has launched over 4,400 projectiles into Israel in the past month, marking one of the most intense periods of aggression from the group in recent years. Additionally, IDF forces claim to have found and dismantled more than 2,500 anti-tank missiles, rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), and over 3,000 other explosive devices along the border with southern Lebanon.
IDF also stated that it has eliminated over 1,500 terrorists since the beginning of the hostilities. Summarizing the past month of clashes with Hezbollah, the IDF shared, “1 month recap of limited, localized & targeted IDF operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.”
