Illnesses rife among displaced in Mozambique camps

Tens of thousands of people have set up makeshift camps in the Cabo Delgado area of Mozambique after fleeing from violence within the region.

Tens of thousands of people have set up makeshift camps in Cabo Delgo area of Mozambique after fleeing from violence within region.

An insurgence of islamist extremists have seized towns and ports in country's rth, forcing many to seek shelter in safer areas.

Since violence began in 2017 more 2,500 people have been killed and over 530,000 people h been displaced, British brocaster Sky News reports.

And w se refugee camps are dealing with ar problem, an outbreak of cholera caused by unsanitary conditions.

But it's t just cholera people are suffering from in camps.

Health officials also say re are problems with malnutrition and malaria.

amo Alau sought medical assistance for his four-year-old daughter Helena.

She h severe dehydration and was placed on drip by medics at camp before being taken to a larger treatment facility.

According to Sky News Cabo Delgo has highest rate of chronic malnutrition in country, with over half of children malurished.

Some in or camps still relive nightmares of what forced m to flee ir homes in first place.
