Addressing the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, September 27, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan used the movie ‘Death Wish’ to justify people picking up arms against the Indian state. He made several gaffes in his speech, including a reference to PM Narendra Modi as ‘President’. Causing further embarrassment to the Pakistani military establishment, he made a departure from their official line by referring to Jammu and Kashmir solely as ‘Kashmir’. He made no qualms about threatening India about the possibility of another Pulwama-like attack and also, indirectly admitted that India had bombed Balakot.

Khan sought to make a mockery of the Kashmir issue by referring to an American thriller movie released in 2018. He propagated the theory that a certain community in India would indulge in terror activities due to denial of justice, just like how things panned out in the movie 'Death Wish'.

The Pakistan PM opined, “I know, we have been brought up with films. In Western films, this good decent guy doesn’t get justice and he decides to pick up a gun and start seeking justice. There was a film made in New York. It was a famous film called ‘Death Wish’. This guy gets mugged or his wife gets killed or something. His family cannot get justice. He picks up a gun and he goes around shooting muggers.”
