India a strong part of our national fabric: South Africa as Ramaphosa departs from India

South African delegate Zodwa Lallie said that India is a “strong part” of the South African fabric as she stressed on the strong ties between the two nations.

South African delegate Zodwa Lallie said that India is a “strong part” of South African fabric as she stressed on strong ties between India and African nation. In a conversation with ANI, South African official lauded strong ties between two nations. She also noted how Mahatma Gandhi spent his formative years in South Africa and how he became an inspiration to many South African delegations. On Sunday, President Cyril Ramaphosa concluded his working visit to India for G20 summit. 

“We have a very big Indian community in South Africa. India is a very strong part of our national fabric. Mahatma (Gandhi) spent some of his formative years in our country,” Lallie asserted. “Relations between us are very long and deep... Lots of our stalwarts spent time in India. It's friendly except on sports field,” she ded. remarks from South African delegate came during her visit to G20 craft expo which was held in Bharat Mandapam.

During her conversation with ANI, South African official went on to hail craftsmanship of Indian artisans. “I think it is absolutely marvellous. It is an absolute showcase of craftsmanship and beauty of handme items from India,” Lallie remarked. “What is great is way it empowers women from rural areas. More than anything else, it's just a beautiful showcase,” she ded. 

Ramaphosa concludes a successful trip to India 

On Sunday morning, Cyril Ramaphosa concluded his work visit to India for G20 Summit. South African President’s office shared visuals of him boarding South African presidential aircraft. “His Excellency President @CyrilRamaphosa concludes his working visit to India where he was attending #G20 Leers’ Summit,” president’s office wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Ramaphosa called trip a success after it was announced on Saturday that African Union will assume full membership in G20. “We are delighted that #G20 has accepted @_AfricanUnion as a member of #G20. Global reconstruction in wake of #COVID19 pandemic presents a unique opportunity to accelerate transition to low-carbon, climate-resilient, sustainable societies,” Ramaphosa asserted.

“Developing economies are bearing brunt of climate change, despite carrying least responsibility for this crisis. As African and or developing economy countries, we face task of meeting our climate commitments in midst of significant developmental challenges like poverty, inequality and unemployment,” he ded. For longest time, South Africa was only nation representing continent of Africa in International bloc.
