India gifted solar panels to United Nations, to be installed on roof

In lieu of the current energy and environmental crisis around the world, India gifted solar panels to the United Nations. It will be installed on the roof.

In lieu of the current energy and environmental crisis around the world, India has gifted solar panels to the United Nations. These panels will be installed on the roof of the United Nation office headquarters. This will help in conserving and generating electricity and it is likely to fulfill the power consumption needs of the building

With the capacity to generate about 50 kilowatts of energy, a green roof system is also being placed next to the panels to decorate the roof.

Amazon strives to reduce plastic pollution 

Apart from the government, even private organisations are venturing into the development of a sustainable environment. Amazon has extensively entered the market to reduce single-use plastic pollution in India. The e-commerce giant announced its plans for replacing air pillows and bubble wraps with paper padding products for packaging and delivery. They explained that the investment for protecting our environment is good for the planet, customers, community and the business. Apart from this, Flipkart has also ventured into unveiling a similar initiative, they have set a target to reduce consumption of single-use plastic by March 2021. PM Modi also urged all Indian companies to reduce plastic pollution by October, in his Independence Day speech. He was quoted saying, “I urge the startup founders, technicians and industrialists to find ways to recycle plastic.”

PM Modi lauds Kochi airport for being fully solar-powered 

PM Modi praised solar-powered operations at the Cochin International Airport and said that it is a great example of applying renewable energy to real-life challenges. The solar plant at the airport approximately produces about 1.62 lakh units of power in a day and the daily consumption accounts for 1.52 lakh units at the airport. The status of power neutrality was first attained by the airport in August 2015. It has also received a United Nations Champions of the Earth award in 2018.
