India lodges strong protest against vandalism of Mahatma Gandhi statue in Canada
India has strongly condemned the vandalising of Mahatma Gandhi's statue at Peace Square on the Burnaby campus at Simon Fraser University in Canada.

India has strongly condemned vandalisation of Mahatma Gandhi statue at Peace Square on Burnaby campus at Simon Fraser University in Cana's British Columbia province. Tagging Canian authorities in a tweet, Consulate General of India demanded an investigation and bring perpetrators to justice.
"We strongly condemn heinous crime of vandalizing statute of harbinger of peace Mahatma Gandhiji, @SFU Burnaby campus. Canian authorities are urged to investigate matter urgently and bring perpetrators to justice swiftly," Consulate General of India in Vancouver tweeted.

Mahatma Gandhi statue vandalised amid Khalistan stir
latest instance of attack on Mahatma Gandhi's statue is second in just a few days, first being defacing of a statue near City Hall in town of Hamilton in Cana's Ontario. According to reports, vandalism was carried out by Khalistan proponents who are causing unrest across multiple parts of world including UK, US, Australia and now Cana.
A similar incident of vandalism of a Gandhi statue was witnessed in July last year as well when it was when it was defaced at a Vishnu temple in Richmond Hill in Cana. Apart from targeting Far of nation, pro-Khalistan elements are also damaging Hindu temples. Earlier this year on February 13, a temple dedicated to Lord Ram was painted with anti-India slogans allegedly by Khalistan perpetrators. "We strongly condemn defacing of Ram Mandir in Mississauga with anti-India graffiti. We have requested Canian authorities to investigate incident and take prompt action on perpetrators," India's Consulate in Toronto h tweeted.

Apart from this, Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday, said that it summoned High Commissioner of Cana to India Cameron MacKay, and conveyed its "strong concern" about actions of separatist and extremist elements against Indian Mission and Consulates. Ministry also sought an explanation on how se elements were allowed to breach security of diplomatic Mission and Consulates in North American country.
