India, Russia hold talks on UNSC issues, vow to deepen cooperation on counter-terrorism

India and Russia on Wednesday held consultations on UN Security Council related issues and agreed to deepen cooperation on counter-terrorism at multilateral platforms.

India and Russia on Wednesday held consultations on UN Security Council related issues and agreed to deepen cooperation on counter-terrorism at multilateral platforms. consultations come ahe of India taking up n-permanent seat at UNSC for period 2021-22.

Indian delegation for consultations was led by Vikas Swarup, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, while Russian delegation was led by Sergey Vasilyevich Vershinin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation and included or Russian Foreign Ministry officials.

Russian side welcomed India taking up n permanent seat at UNSC for period 2021-22, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.

Both sides held wide ranging discussions on issues on UN Security Council nda and recent developments, MEA said. Indian and Russian sides agreed to deepen cooperation on counter-terrorism at multilateral platforms, it said.

Indian delegation briefed Russia on its priorities during its upcoming UNSC tenure and y decided to work closely toger, given common challenges faced and in keeping with ir long standing Special and Strategic Privileged Partnership, statement said. Indian delegation also included or officials from Ministry of External Affairs and Embassy of India in Moscow.
