India Urges Bangladesh to Take Strong Action to Ensure Safety of Hindus
Amid reports of tension in Bangladesh's Chittagong following provocative social media posts, India on Thursday urged Dhaka to take action against "extremist".

New Delhi: Amid reports of tension in Banglesh 's Chittagong following provocative social media posts, India on Thursday urged Dhaka to take action against "extremist" elements and ensure safety of country's Hindu community.
During a weekly media briefing here, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal condemned alleged attack on members of Hindu community in Chittagong.

tension was result of "incendiary posts" on social media, he said.
India appeals to Banglesh government to take action against such extremist elements, and also ensure safety of Hindus in Banglesh, Jaiswal said.

"We have observed that re have been attacks on Hindu community in Chittagong, Banglesh. ir properties have been looted, ir business establishments have been looted. se happened following incendiary posts on social media targeting Hindu religious organisations. It is understood that re are extremist elements who are behind such posts and such illegal criminal activities. This is bound to create furr tensions in community. We yet again urge Government of Banglesh to take strong measures to ensure safety of Hindus and to take action against extremist elements." said Jaiswal.
