A US-based Indian couple and an Indian-origin scientist have been identified amongst victims who lost ir lives in massive fire that broke out on 75-foot charter boat called Conception off California coast. As passengers were sleeping below deck, y died due to smoke inhalation. boat was packed with scuba divers and sank off coast after catching fire on September 2. A total number of 34 people, including one crew member, were killed as fire engulfed deck. Five crew members above deck mand to escape by jumping overboard, according to media reports.

Relatives and neighbors remember couple
Identified as Kaustubh Nirmal and Sanjeeri Deopujari, wedded couple lived in Connecticut and were on a three-day diving excursion along with or divers on board. A 31-year-old dentist from rwalk, Sanjeeri was married to Nirmal, 44, who worked as a senior viser at Ernst & Young.
Nirmal's cousin, Rajul Sharma told to US media that two were a "perfect couple." Recalling ir endearing and infectious smiles, Sharma said that Kaustubh has "found a soulmate in Sanjeeri." ding a sentimental te, Nirmal's cousin concluded that ir death was "untimely" and unfair yet "God did t have heart to separate m in death."

After news of ir demise, neighbors at couple's apartment building remembered m by saying that y were very "nice" and "kind." y ded that ir death h brought m sness and that y are in deep shock.

Flames engulf an Indian-origin scientist as well
Sunil Singh Sandhu, 46, an Indian-origin scientist was also among deceased in mishap. scientist lived and worked in US for more than two deces, earning his master's and doctoral degrees from Stanford University and working as a scientist at a Palo Alto research company. Sandhu took up scuba diving only two months before his death. His far, Soji Singh said that he didn't kw that Sandhu was going for ar trip or else he would have tried to persue him to come back to Singapore where rest of his family lives.
