The Indian Embassy in China cancelled the Republic Day celebrations after the growing concerns about the novel coronavirus outbreak which has claimed 25 lives.

Indian Embassy in China has cancelled Republic Day ceremony after growing concerns about mysterious coronavirus outbreak which has alrey claimed more than 25 lives. Embassy took to Twitter to inform about ir decision and wished all Indian expatriate community in China ‘a very happy Republic Day.’
According to latest reports, over 25 people have died due to coronavirus outbreak and over 800 cases have been detected. After confirmation of human to human transmission of virus, health authorities fear a possible global pandemic since cause of disease is yet to be detected.

Two cities under lockdown
China has alrey put two of its cities under lockdown to contain spre of disease. After public transport was restricted in Wuhan, centre of Coronavirus (CoV) outbreak, Huanggang is also being put under lockdown to rein in spre of pneumonia.

Indian embassy in Beijing has also issued a travel visory for people visiting India from China. embassy said that travellers should avoid close contact with people who are unwell or showing symptoms of illness. It also asked all travellers from China, especially from Wuhan city, to monitor ir health closely.

After an International Health Regulations (IHR) Emergency Committee meeting, World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General h said that he was ‘very impressed’ by detail and depth of China’s presentation. Director-General stalled decision on declaring it a public health emergency saying he will decide after appropriate consideration of all evidence.
Coronavirus is a new strain in large family of coronaviruses (CoV) which was previously t identified in humans. CoV causes illness ranging from common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).
