New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi after the latter secured his third term as the President of Egypt. According to the Arab news, Sisi managed to gain a landslide victory after garnering 89.6% of the votes. After the results were announced, The National Election Authority said that 66.8% of Egypt's 67 million voters came to the polling booth to cast their votes in this year's election. This was a significant improvement from the last election which took place in 2018, where the voter turnout was only 41% and El-Sisi won with  97% of the votes.

Shortly after the results were announced, Prime Minister Modi took to X, formally known as Twitter to express his regard. In his tweet, PM Modi expressed his intention to further deepen the India-Egypt ties. "Warm congratulations, Excellency
@AlsisiOfficial on your victory in the Presidential elections," the Prime Minister wrote on X on Monday night. “Look forward to working with you to further deepen India-Egypt Strategic Partnership,” he added.

After winning the elections, the Egyptian president expressed gratitude to his supporters and pledged to continue building a “new republic” as he secures his third term. He even promised to do everything to stop the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, calling it the country's primary challenge. After the landslide victory, El-Sisi graciously lauded his opponent who took part in the elections.

Russian President Vladimir Putin extends best wishes

Shortly after Prime Minister Modi's tweet, Russian President Vladimir Putin also congratulated the Egyptian leader for securing his third term as the President.  In his congratulatory message, Putin lauded El-Sisi's effort to build Russia-Egypt ties. “Your convincing victory in the election has become a prime example of the wide recognition of your efforts in addressing the current socio-economic and foreign policy challenges facing Egypt,” the Russian leader said in the message which was eventually shared by Putin. “It is hard to overestimate your personal contribution to building and strengthening the Russian-Egyptian strategic partnership. I would like to reaffirm our readiness to continue our constructive joint work to further develop the entire range of bilateral ties, as well as cooperation in international affairs, including within the BRICS framework,” he added.
