The world observed International Dog Day on Monday, August 26, to highlight the plight of animals. The initiative also aims to encourage its adoption.

In better and in worse, in sickness and in health, the one who will always love you is your pet pooch. To rejoice the beautiful bond of humans and dogs, the world observed International Dog Day on Monday, August 26. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms were flooded with adorable pictures of the species as the dog lovers shared them widely on social media. Among all the uploads a Twitter thread is going viral.

Chris Evans celebrates International Dog Day

Meanwhile, several celebrities across domains have also come forward to celebrate International Dog Day. 'Avengers: Endgame' actor Chris Evans who played Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe also joined the online bash. Chris Evans shared an adorable picture with his dog on Twitter extending greetings of International Dog Day.

Suresh Raina celebrates International Dog Day

Indian cricketer Suresh Raina also celebrates International Dog Day. To mark the day, he shared a picture with his pet dog on Twitter where the pup can be seen looking elsewhere being absolutely indifferent to the camera. The cricketer hilariously captioned the picture saying, "He said no to a picture though..."

International Dog Day is globally celebrated every year to highlight the plight of animals. The initiative also aims to encourage the adoption of the human-friendly species. Dogs who are often referred to as human's best friends are known for their loyalty to their owners. In fact, they are also used in the army and as support animals to physically impaired people.
