Iran on Saturday confirmed the country has a further 3,076 cases of the new coronavirus, bringing the national total to 35,408 cases, with 2,517 deaths.
Iranian Health Ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour gave the update in a news conference on state broadcaster IRINN.
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.
For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
