Iran Denies Involvement in Drone Attack on Netanyahu, Blames Hezbollah
Days after Israel eliminated Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu 's private residence has been targeted by a drone in Lebanon as tensions rise in the Middle East and war between the nations continues to escalate. Iran has denied any involvement and has pinned the blame on the Iran-backed Lebanese terror group Hezbollah.
The Iran’s United Nations Mission has said that Hezbollah was behind a drone attack on the residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu .
“This action was taken by the Lebanese Hezbollah,” the mission said in response to a question about Iran’s role in the attack, according to the official IRNA news agency.
In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry has denied any involvement in the drone attack on the private residence of Israeli PM Netanyahu and has also named the organisation behind the attack.
‘Grave Mistake’: Israeli PM Netanyahu on Assassination Bid
Reacting to this assassination attempt, Benjamin Netanyahu has called it a ‘grave mistake’ by ‘Axis of Resistance’. In a statement, the Israeli PM said, “The attempt by Iran’s proxy Hezbollah to assassinate me and my wife today was a grave mistake. This will not deter me or the State of Israel from continuing our just war against our enemies in order to secure our future. I say to Iran and its proxies in its axis of evil. Anyone who tries to harm Israel’s citizens will pay a heavy price. We will continue to eliminate the terrorists and those who dispatch them. We will bring our hostages home from Gaza. And we will return our citizens who live on our Northern border safely to their homes. Israel is determined to achieve all our war objectives and change the security reality in our region for generations to come.”
Drone Attack Targets Netanyahu's Private Residence
A drone aimed at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ’s private residence struck the central town of Caesarea in Israel on Saturday, though no casualties were reported as Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, were not at home, the Prime Minister's office said in a statement. The office, however, confirmed the attack, stating that the drone hit the property earlier in the morning. Earlier, the Israeli government said a drone targeted the prime minister’s house, though there were no casualties, as Iran’s supreme leader vowed Hamas would continue its fight following the killing of the mastermind of last year’s deadly Oct. 7 attack.
Sirens wailed in Israel warning of incoming fire from Lebanon. The military said dozens of projectiles were launched. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ’s office said the drone targeted his house in the Mediterranean coastal town of Caesarea, though neither he nor his wife were home.
