Iran: Khamenei refuses US aid for deadly Coronavirus outbreak, calls the offer 'strange'

In a televised speech, Iran’s Supreme Leer Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that United States offer to help Iran fight Coronavirus pandemic was ‘strange’. In his dress to Iranian public on March 22, Khamenei also described US leers as ‘charlatans’.
Iran has been hardest hit by Coronavirus outbreak in Middle East and has reported over 1,500 Coronavirus deaths and more than 20,000 infected cases.

'Iran can overcome any challenge'
According to international news reports, Khamenei has said that US has offered to help several times but y have also been accused of creating Coronavirus. While Supreme Leer does t kw if it is true or t but finds it really 'strange' that y were offering Iran help. Khamenei ded that this was because Americans mselves were facing shorts in ir fight against Coronavirus. He also speculated that US could possibly give m a drug that would keep Coronavirus in ir country forever.

In his speech, Khamenei ded that Iran h capacity to overcome any challenge that was put before it, including dely Coronavirus outbreak.

Tensions between Iran and United States have been running high ever since Trump exited Tehran’s 2015 nuclear deal with six world powers and reimposed sanctions that have crippled country’s ecomy. Tensions were furr exasperated when Trump ordered a U.S. drone strike that killed top Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani on January 3. Iran h furr retaliated by hitting Iraqi military bases that housed American troops on January 8.

Earlier a Chinese official tweeted that perhaps it was United States that h actually brought virus to Wuhan in China. He furr ded in his tweet that US owed world an explanation and that it should release its data.
vel Coronavirus, also kwn as COVID-19, has claimed more than 13,069 lives across world and has infected over 308,463 people globally since it first broke out in December 2019. United States has reported over 26,000 cases and almost 400 Coronavirus deaths.
