Iran may release Stena Impero within hours says Swedish owner
The British-flagged vessel, which was captured by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps in the Strait of Hormuz can be released within hours, said Swedish owner

British-flagged vessel, which was captured in July by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps in Strait of Hormuz might be released within hours, a Swedish television quoted chief executive of firm that owns vessel. Stena Impero, British-flagged tanker, was captured two weeks after an Iranian tanker was seized by United Kingdom just off coast of Gibraltar. After seizure, senior officials in Tehran h told reporters that Iran’s seizure of a British oil tanker was a response to Britain’s role in impounding an Iranian supertanker first.

Political decision to release ship has been taken
“We have received information w this morning that it seems like y will release ship Stena Impero within a few hours. So we understand that political decision to release ship has been taken,” a Swedish Brocaster quoted Stena Bulk Chief Executive Erik Hanell. “We hope to be able to he out within a few hours, but we don’t want to anticipate events. We want to see that ship sails out of Iranian territorial waters,” he ded.

Crew members alrey released
Earlier, on September 4, Iran released seven Indians onboard Stena Impero. Abbas Mousavi, Iranian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson, h informed that ship’s captain h selected seven members of its crew to be released. Mousavi said that decision to release crew members was me in line with Iran's "humanitarian policies." Mousavi furr said that he h problem with crew or captain but was only concerned about alleged violations of international maritime boundary. Later, all remaining members of crew were released.

Seizure of ar vessel
On September 16, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards once again seized a vessel in Gulf for allegedly smuggling 250,000 litres of diesel fuel to United Arab Emirates (UAE). Iran's semi-official Students News ncy (ISNA) reported that vessel was detained near Iran’s Greater Tunb in Persian Gulf. “ crew have been handed over to legal authorities in sourn Hormozgan province,” said ISNA. While crew were handed over to competent authorities, identities and nationalities of crew were t divulged by ISNA.
