Iran rejects US aid to tackle coronavirus, lashes out on 'vicious' sanctions

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani rejected the aid offered by the United States on March 4 to help the Islamic Republic fight the deadly coronavirus outbreak.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani rejected aid offered by United States on March 4 to help Islamic Republic fight dely coronavirus outbreak. During his cabinet session, as country's death toll of COVID-19 reaches 92, Rouhani lashed out on Washington for its “vicious act” of imposing sanctions that are ultimately depriving Iranians of medicine. He furr ded that after two years, w when world battles fatal virus, US came up with “mask of sympathy” and is “pretending” to help people in Iran. 

However, according to Iranian President, if United States President Donald Trump really wanted to provide help, y “better lift drug sanctions”. Rouhani also accused US of lying and n extended his gratitude to or governments and leers who have provided help to Iran as fatal virus infects more than 93,000 people worldwide.

According to official website, Rouhani said, "Those who have deprived people of even medicine and food through sanctions, who have done most vicious things... y appear with a mask of sympathy and say that we want to help nation of Iran."

Iranian President said, “Our people kw very well that you are lying; you are t telling truth; here I have to thank all governments and countries that have helped us and are rey to help us.”

'Extreme Fear'

Earlier, Rouhani h also accused US of trying to spre “extreme fear” in Iran over coronavirus outbreak. virus which originated in Chinese province of Wuhan has also claimed 92 lives in Iran including Mohamm Mirmohammi, viser to Iran's Supreme Leer, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei with 2,922 confirmed cases. However, Rouhani believes that his country's citizens should t let America mount ar fear except virus, itself. 

Rouhani's comments came after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo h accused Iran of suppressing information about COVID-19 outbreak. According to an international news ncy, Iranian President claimed  Americans “mselves are struggling with coronavirus” and said that “sixteen thousand people have died of influenza” in US. However, Rouhani furr ded that Washington does “t talk about ir own (de)”.
