Iran reports 117 more coronavirus deaths, total cases reach 41,495
Iran on March 30 registered 117 new deaths from the novel coronavirus pandemic, bringing the official death toll to 2,757. Number of infected cases is 41,495.

With government taking appropriate measures to curb spre of dely coronavirus, Iran on March 30 reported 117 more deaths from vel coronavirus, bringing official death toll to 2,757. Health ministry spokesman Kiaush Jahanpour reportedly anunced statistics in a news conference and revealed that 3,186 more cases h been confirmed in past day, raising number of infections to 41,495. According to reports, health ministry spokesperson said that 13,911 cases who were hospitalized because of virus have recovered, while 3,511 are in a critical condition.
Currently, Iran has t taken any strict quarantine action, although government has repeatedly urged I citizens to stay confide to ir house to curb spre of infection. Islamic republic has w emerged as epicenter of disease, which eventually originated in China with country struggling hard to stop spre of disease since it registered its first case on February 19. After weeks of refraining mselves from imposing lockdown or quarantine measures, Tehran decided on March 25 to ban all intercity travel until at least till April 8.

Despite soaring cases in country, Iran refrained from anuncing a total lockdown until March 26, when country banned all intercity travel. Without imposing an official lockdown, Iranian regime urged people to stay at home "as much as possible." Schools and universities in some provinces were closed in late February and measure was later extended to whole country. On a positive te, Rouhani said he h been told by top health experts and doctors that "in some provinces, we have passed peak (of epidemic) and are on a downward trajectory".

In most recent cases, bror of former Iranian President Mohamm Khatami was affected.
