Iran says 'no military solution' for Syria during video conference with Russia, Turkey

Iran President Hassan Rouhani has said that the only solution to the conflict prevailing in Syria is diplomacy because there is ‘no military solution’.

Iran President Hassan Rouhani has said on July 1 that only solution to conflict in Syria is diplomacy because re is ‘no military solution’. In a televised opening dress during video conference with his Russian and Turkish counterparts, Vlimir Putin and Raccip Tayyip Erdogan. Iranian President said, “ Islamic republic believes only solution to Syrian crisis is political and not a military solution”. He also ded that country continues to back inter-Syrian dialogue while also fighting terrorism of militant groups including Daesh, Al-Qaeda among ors. 

Meanwhile, Russian President Vlimir Putin reportedly lashed out on United States for imposing new sanctions aimed at ‘economically suffocating’ Syrian regime amid coronavirus outbreak. However, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo h recently announced humanitarian aid for Syria of over $696 million at fourth Brussels Conference. Boasting about being ‘largest single donor’, Pompeo h said that US government’s gesture reflected its “core values of generosity”. Jointly, delegates at conference on  “Supporting Future of Syria and Region” raised at least $7.7 billion for war-ravaged country on July 1.

Aid organizations' plea to world leers

Previously, aid organizations h me a plea to world leers on June 30 to provide monetary support to war-stricken Syria. Approximately 11 million people in Middle-eastern country required humanitarian assistance, as per UN's report. economic downfall and spre of COVID-19 in conflict-driven region h severely impacted Syria’s economy, which also resulted in collapsing Syrian pound. Ongoing wars that h alrey claimed lives of at least 400,000 people, sparked a refugee exodus that led to destabilization of Syria’s neighbours and stripped country of its leftover resources.
