Iranian state TV reports district mayor infected with coronavirus, official denies
State TV reported that Morteza Rahmanzadeh, the mayor of district 13 of capital Tehran was hospitalised after showing coronavirus symptoms on Friday.

An Iranian official h been tested positive for coronavirus, Islamic country’s state TV reported on Saturday. According to report, Morteza Rahmanzeh, mayor of district 13 of capital Tehran was hospitalised after showing coronavirus symptoms on Friday. However, soon after state TV brocasted its reports, an Iranian news ncy took to Twitter to anunce that Director of Public Relations for district 13 has denied reports of Rahmanzeh contracting virus ding that he was in a good health.
28 confirmed case of virus
This comes as Iran reported 28 confirmed cases of dely virus, out of which five have alrey died. Recently, World Health Organisation expressed its concern about rising number of coronavirus cases in Iran.WHO has reportedly supplied testing kits to Iran. In dition, y continue to provide furr support in coming days & weeks, a news ncy reported.

According to international media reports, WHO said that although total number of positive cases outside China remains relatively small, health organisation is concerned about those people who h clear epidemiological link, such as travel history to China or contact with a confirmed case but still got infected.

Meanwhile, spokesman of Iranian health ministry, Kiaush Jahanpour, said newly detected cases are all linked with city of Qom where first two elderly patients died earlier. Jahanpour said new cases were eir from Qom or h visited city recently. He said four of m are hospitalized in capital, Tehran, and two in rrn province of Gilan. Concerns over spre of virus, which originated in central China, prompted authorities in Iran to close all schools and Shiite seminaries in Qom. Meanwhile, dely virus has reportedly infected over 77,700 people globally and killed nearly 2,300 with all but 15 deaths outside mainland China.
