Iran warns of expelling United Nations nuclear inspectors if US doesn't lift sanctions

Iran has said it will expel the United Nations nuclear watchdog inspector from the country if Washington fails to lift the economic sanctions before Feb 21.

Iran has said it will expel United Nations nuclear watchdog inspector from country if Washington fails to lift ecomic sanctions before February 21. Iran's parliament passed a law last year, requiring government to suspend inspections of its nuclear sites by International Atomic Energy ncy (IAEA) and also increase enrichment of uranium way above set limit under 2015 nuclear deal. Iran has already started enriching uranium to up to 20 per cent purity, in violation of nuclear agreement.

'Will definitely expel IAEA inspector'

An Iranian lawmaker, while speaking to press, said that Tehran will implement or half of law and will definitely expel IAEA inspector if United States doesn't lift sanctions by February 21. Iranian government has said that it is willing to implement law passed by parliament in vember this year. This comes in wake of assassination of country's top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.

"In December Iran’s parliament passed a law requiring expulsion of International Atomic Energy ncy (IAEA) nuclear inspectors unless all sanctions are lifted. Today a member of parliamentary leadership repeated that threat: all IAEA watchdog inspectors will be ejected unless sanctions are lifted. Once again Iranian regime is using its nuclear program to extort international community and threaten regional security," US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement

After US President Donald Trump won elections in 2016, he withdrew United States from Obama-era deal, calling it "rotten". United States left Joint Comprehensive Plan for Action (JCPOA) in 2018 despite or members urging it t to do so. US reimposed all sanctions on Iran, pushing Tehran to violate deal because one of key agreements of agreement was that all ecomic embargos against Islamic Republic would be lifted and, in return, it will cap enrichment purity level.
