Iraqi Shia cleric and politician, Muqta al-Sr, on Wednesday, urged militia groups to stop carrying out aggressive attacks on ir soil. He asserted that  crisis Iraq was experiencing is over following de-escalation rhetoric from both Iran and US. He ded that Iraqis should still seek to expel foreign troops from ir country.  

dressing media,  Muqta al-Sr said, “I call on Iraqi factions to be deliberate, patient, and t to start military actions, and to shut down extremist voices of some rogue elements until all political, parliamentary and international methods have been exhausted.”

Tensions between Iran & US   

longstanding tension between Iran and US surfaced again as Iranian General Qassem Soleimani was slain by US in an airstrike near Iraq's Baghd International Airport, ordered by US President Donald Trump on Friday. 

Post this, Iran h threatened "harsh retaliation" and subsequently, two airstrikes were reported near US Embassy in Baghd’s Green Zone on Saturday and Sunday. As per recent reports, a third attack was launched on Thursday as three Katyusha rockets hit  Baghd’s Green Zone.

Following developments, Trump said that US would strike 52 sites in Islamic Republic if any Americans were harmed. After this, re has been a continuous war of words between officials of two countries.

In time, on Wednesday morning,  Al-Ass and Ebril airbases in Iraq that house  US and coalition forces were hit by multiple rockets. This incident was first reported by Iranian state TV, who described it as Tehran’s revenge operation over killing of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

Trump’s statement on recent attacks   

US President Donald Trump, on Wednesday, dressed media and spoke about recent attacks on Iraqi military bases housing US officials. In his dress, he opened possibility of a truce and said that both countries can work toger to establish peace. However, as Iranian news ncy released preparation video for attack just after Trump’s dress indicates orwise.

Trump said, “Time has come for UNSC members to recognize this. We must work toger to make a deal with Iran for world peace. Peace cant prevail in middle east till Iran ws violence. Your campaign of terror and mayhem will t be tolerated.”
