Tel Aviv: Tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate following the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and recent Israeli strikes in Lebanon over the weekend. Israel continues to launch airstrikes on what it claims are Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, which claimed the lives of over 100 people and wounded over 350 others Sunday, as per the Lebanese health ministry. The bombardment has destroyed thousands of homes and civilian infrastructure, displacing tens of thousands. Meanwhile, the Iran-backed terrorist group asserted that it will continue to fight, even as a growing number of senior Hezbollah figures have been killed. Furthermore, amid the violence, the US continues to press for a ceasefire. US President Joe Biden is likely to speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu .

  • Over 100 Killed and 350 Injured by Israeli Strikes in Lebanon: Officials

At least 105 people were killed and over 350 people were injured in Sunday's attack by Israel on Lebanon, the country's health ministry said.

As per officials, the highest death toll was reported in the South Governorate, where 48 people were killed and 168 were injured in Ain Al-Delb and Tyre. However, the Baalbek-Hermel region in eastern Lebanon’s Beqaa Valley was also hard hit, with 33 people killed and 97 injured, according to the ministry.

US President Joe Biden on Sunday said that he will speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu soon amid rising tensions in the Middle East increase following the assassination of Hezbollah chief Nasrallah.

"Yes, I will be talking to him," he said.

He added "We really have to avoid” all-out war in the Middle East, saying, “We’ve already taken precautions relative to our embassies and personnel who want to leave, but we’re not there yet. But we’re working like hell with the French and many others."

  • First airstrike reported at central Beirut

At least two people were killed after Israeli strikes apartments in Beirut,  Lebanese security source says. This marks to be the first Israeli strike on the city. However, there was no immediate comment from Israeli officials.

  • Hamas has confirmed that its chief terrorist in Lebanon, Fathi Sharif Abu Al-Amin, was killed in an Israeli precision strike.

4 Killed in Israel Attacks on Critical Infrastructure in Yemen: Reports

The latest Israeli strikes against Houthis killed at least four people and injured 29, the Houthi-run Health Ministry said in a statement. Moreover, the residents said the bombing had caused power outages in most parts of the port city of Hodeidah.

Meanwhile, the IDF in a tweet on X said, "The IDF attacked power plants and a port, which are used to import oil. Through the targeted infrastructure and ports, the Houthi regime transfers Iranian weapons to the region, and supplies for military purposes, including oil."

After the airstrikes in Yemen, Defence Minister Yoav Gallant in a post on X said, “The message is clear, for us, no place is too far.”

  • The Lebanese health ministry said that there had been deadly air raids near Sidon on Sunday. Dozens had died in the east, in the south and in and around Beirut.
  • France's foreign ministry on Sunday said that a second French national had also been killed in Lebanon.

Protests and clashes took place Sunday evening in Pakistan 's Karachi after protesters marched towards the city's US Consulate to mourn the death of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah.

According to a statement by the Karachi Police, the demonstrators tried to move beyond the allocated protest venue and resorted to “throwing stones and rioting.”

According to Reuters, the body of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has been recovered from the site of an Israeli air attack on Beirut and is "intact". His body had no "direct" wounds and it appeared the cause of death was "blunt trauma from the force of the blast", Reuters reported.
