Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faced protests at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv as he departed for the US. Protesters demand an investigation.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faced protests at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv as he departed for US. Netanyahu who has been indicted in several cases was leaving for United States in order to sign a historic agreement which would rmalize relations between United Arab Emirates and Israel.
Protestors block departure to US
Earlier in day, Netanyahu and Israeli cabinet anunced a three-week national lockdown which was frowned upon by many, especially since lockdown overlaps with a string of national holidays. A protestor who was present at airport told local media that recent action by Israeli PM was 'just madness’.

According to reports, protesters carrying Israeli flags and black placards drove ir cars and attempted to block way towards departure terminal. Or protestors chanted slogans demanding that Netanyahu be investigated and proclaiming him as a criminal minister. For several years w Netanyahu has been under investigation for several charges, including bribery and corruption.

COVID-19 lockdown
Following a drastic resurgence in new COVID-19 cases and fearing consequences of mass garings during upcoming holiday season, Israel’s cabinet decided to reimpose national lockdown on Sunday, September 13. lockdown has been extended for three weeks and with anuncement, Israel has become first country in world to reimpose national lockdown due to fear of COVID-19. lockdown will begin on September 18 and will continue till October 9.
