There have been talks for a long time that one of Bollywood's most critically acclaimed films will be remade in Tamil. It was also reported that Ajith Kumar will be starring in it. Now, the reports and rumours have finally been confirmed as the project is kicked off with the blessings of Boney Kapoor, who is venturing into Tamil cinema.
The film in question is none other than Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Pink'. Yes, Thala will be filling in the shoes of the Megastar in the remake and Boney Kapoor is backing the project. The official pooja ceremony for the project was held today which Boney attended. The film is tentatively titled as 'Thala 59'. In the pictures that have surfaced, the famed producer can be seen in a white shirt as he is holding the film's clapboard.
'Thala 59' will be helmed by H.Vinoth with Nirav Shah of 2.0 fame taking care of the cinematography. What's more, there are also reports that there is an emotional backstory to Boney's decision. Apparently, in a statement, he revealed that it was his late wife Sridevi's wish for Ajith to work in a film that was produced by him. When the trio was discussing the prospects last year, it was Thala who suggested a Pink remake and Sridevi apparently readily agreed to it. So, it looks like Boney is carrying out the wishes of the late actress in such a great way. For those who are unaware, Ajith already shared screen space with Sridevi in 'English Vinglish' where he did a brief cameo. You can also read the entire press release from Boney Kapoor here:
