The Metropolitan Government of Tokyo on September 12, has launched a water treatment measure to help deal with natural calamities like typhoons and squalls which frequently affects the city and to keep the city safe. Eika Saionji, Bureau of Construction, Tokyo Metropolitan Government said the most important aim of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is the safety of the citizens. The preparation of infrastructure is developed by the Bureau of Construction. To keep a curb on the appropriate evacuation Tokyo Metropolitan Government provides rain and flood information through Tokyo Metropolitan Government water disaster prevention general information system.

Cameras installed across the river to monitor the situation
Cameras are installed at 47 points on the banks of the river and the situation of the river is being monitored by the authorities around the clock. The government also analyses and observes information of rain and water gauges and communicates appropriate information to the citizens.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government said it frequently monitors the situation in Tokyo and is concerned about the safety of the city. When the water level rises and reaches the dangerous mark, the data is automatically dispatched to the control room of the water disaster prevention room.

People can check the real-time status on the internet
The system is designed to provide information both to the citizens and foreign tourists on the internet in various languages. People can check the real-time status of the river and the water level using the location of the PCs and smartphones. The government official said during the time of a typhoon or heavy rainfall, evacuation is necessary to prevent urban flood disasters. The information system is set to alert the citizens of dangerous situations involving either rains or flooding rivers viaa the internet by the real-time process.

Japan always bears the brunt of natural disasters like earthquakes and severe flooding because it lies in the Ring of Fire. The aim to gear up disaster prevention technologies in Japan is increasing as the city nears to host the 2020 Olympics.
