Japan reacts to "malicious" Russian Tokyo Olympic cyberattack allegations
Japan's chief cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato told a regular news conference Tuesday that "We cannot overlook malicious cyberattacks that could shake the foundation of democracy." after British allegations of a Russian cyber-attack plot targeting the Tokyo Summer Olympics.

Kato declined to comment on details of specific cases, and ded that "Tokyo Olympic is an international event that is capturing global attention and that we are well aware of importance of cybersecurity measures." He said government has been promoting risk manment by event operators, establishment and operation of a cybersecurity response coordination center to serve as a command center for information sharing.

"We will continue to pursue international information sharing while we firmly promote cybersecurity measures to achieve successful Tokyo Games," said Kato.
